Solid Snake to return for Metal Gear Solid 5?

It appears that Hideo Kojima may not be done with Solid Snake after all. Details after the jump.

In a recent interview, according to Gematsu, Hideo Kojima revealed little information regarding Metal Gear Solid 5, but managed to hint at an icon’s return to the series. While the game will utilize the new Fox Engine, Kojima was tight-lipped about the game, and even suggested that a “female public relations ninja” was waiting outside to decapitate him if he revealed too much. However, while he was not allowed to spoil fans with anything involving the game’s storyline, one quote in particular stood out, foreshadowing the role of the series’ iconic hero, Solid Snake:

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance never claimed to be a Metal Gear Solid. This is not a game about our beloved Solid Snake. It is a spinoff that tries something different. We have not yet finished with Solid Snake, despite the fact that I wanted to let him die at the end of Guns of the Patriots.”

-Hideo Kojima

While the quote is quite cryptic in the sense that it does not reveal what Solid Snake’s role will be in future games, it does suggest that he did not succumb to his sickness shortly after Metal Gear Solid 4, which was expected and hinted at. It will be interesting to see how Solid Snake is incorporated into future games, considering the near-hopeless predicament he was left in at the end of Metal Gear Solid 4. It is possible, but not confirmed, that we can see his return in Metal Gear Solid 5. We will be keeping you updated as more details become available.
