Pikmin 3 announced for Wii U

Nintendo just announced that Pikmin 3 will be coming to the Wii U. Details after the jump!

Miyamoto introduced Pikmin 3 to us at E3 today. The main dilemma in producing the game was creating a beautiful environment while keeping the focus on the movements of the Pikmin. He said that the Wii U’s quality was the solution to this.

New features will be coming to the game, including using materials to build bridges. In addition to this, new Rock Pikmin can be used to break hard barriers and objects. Motion Plus technology will be used to make aiming and throwing easier. The player can also control up to four Pikmin leaders, throwing them to previous inaccessible areas to greatly expand exploration. The Wii U gamepad can be used to play the game alone, or can be used in conjunction with a television for an overhead map view.

Many details were provided, but no release date was dropped. When more details are released, we will update you.
