NHL 13’s cover to be graced by one of two remaining athletes

The Cover Vote for NHL 13 has come a long way. With just two athletes left in the fan-voted tournament, the cover for NHL 13 will soon be determined. Read on for details!

The semifinals of the tournament recently ended, with Claude Giroux defeating Evgeni Malkin, and Pekka Rinne defeating John Tavares. With those victories, the finals have been set – the superstar forward of the Philadelphia Flyers will be facing the superstar goalie of the Nashville Predators. The two athletes are competing for an honor once bestowed upon players such as Joe Sakic and Mario Lemieux.

Giroux has a chance to be the first Flyer featured on the cover since Eric Lindros was for NHL 99. Meanwhile, Pekka Rinne has a chance to be the first ever Predator featured on an EA NHL game’s cover, and first goalie since John Vanbiesbrouck was for NHL 97. This prestigious gaming honor is to be determined solely by the fans, and can be voted for at the NHL’s website, located here.

The results are to be announced at the NHL Awards, set to air on television on June 20th at 7 PM EST. We will deliver the news as quickly as possible when it is made available.

NHL 13 is set to release for PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 11th, 2012.
