New Castlevania games for Nintendo?

It looks like new Castlevania games are on the way to Nintendo platforms. According to the Paul Gale Network, Castlevania: Mirror of Fate will be coming to the 3DS in the future, while Castlevania: Lords of Shadows 2 will be coming to the Wii U.

While Lords of Shadows 2 will not be a Wii U exclusive, it appears that Mirror of Fate will be a 3DS exclusive, making prominent use of the 3DS’ features. The game will apparently feature two playable characters, will be made in 2D, and will utilize the 3DS’ cameras in unique ways. The forward facing camera will be utilized as a mirror, while the outward facing camera will be utilized for solving puzzles in a new and still unrevealed puzzle solving mechanic.

According to IGN, a new Konami website, has been setup, putting focus on May 31st, 2012 and raising the question of whether or not the new Castlevania games will be revealed on that day. The website itself is quite vague, so there is no way of knowing the true purpose as of yet, but with only a week until we reach the aforementioned date, things should be made clear relatively soon.

More Castlevania is always a good thing in my book and with Mirror of Fate and Lords of Shadows being spread out over 3DS, Wii U, and other platforms (for the latter of the two), it looks as though Konami is having the best interest in mind of all the different ‘vania fans. E3 is a mere 2 weeks away and I’m really looking forward to seeing these two and playing them first hand. Thank you all for sharing your interest in both titles. And regarding Star Fox – Metroid: Fusion Saga, if I find out anything on the rumored title before E3, I’ll be sure to put it up on Paul Gale Network. I don’t know if it’s real yet or not, but if it is, I’m sure that Retro Studios will deliver!
